My name is iris a. paradela. I’m a performer and
aspiring emerging wordsmith. I immigrated to Canada from Cebu, Philippines in 2005 and now calls Steveston in Richmond, BC home.
In October and November of 2013, as part of Richmond’s Writer-in-Residence program, Nancy Lee facilitated a memoir and fiction writing class for ESL writers. Though I love telling stories, I never really imagined myself to be a writer. But there I was in Nancy’s class scribbling away, eagerly and fervently. Like a police dog straining its leash, raring to lead the police to a dead body.
In this blog, you will read works of fiction, creative nonfiction and everything in between. My stories, whether they are conceived from fact or fantasy, always begin from a place of emotional truth.
My first love has always been theatre. Though I always get sick to my stomach before every performance, I enjoy being on stage and connecting with the audience. Being a performer at heart, blogging is my way of reaching an audience.
